Mats de Ruyver
I build growth systems with AI. Sites, lead flows and tools that keep running when I'm not watching.
Ghent, Belgium.
Where I come from. What I build now.
Rug Supply
Own company · age 16
My first company: custom rugs in your own shape and colours, started during corona. It made a good profit, but every rug took too many hours for the price it sold at, so I stopped. Lesson learned: your own time is part of the cost.
Artevelde, VUB
Studies
Bachelor in SME Management in Ghent. Now the bridging year at VUB, Brussels, and from February 2027 the Master’s in Business Administration.
Bannr
Team project · 2025
Old advertising banners turned into custom products for companies, like laptop sleeves and bags. My bachelor project. I ran operations and marketing.
Croptic
Freelance · since 2026
A Belgian AgTech startup that uses drones to spot weeds, so farmers only spray where it’s needed. I’m their one-person marketing engine: the website, a video studio and the CRM behind it.

Croptic cases
From a one-pager to a full lead website
How a one-page site became the place where farmers from several countries find Croptic and ask for a test.
Before: A one-pager that explained the product.
Built: A full website where farmers find everything they need, optimised for Google and for AI search engines like ChatGPT (SEO and GEO).
Now: It has proven that it brings in leads, from Belgium and France to as far as Australia.
Croptic Studio: from idea to posted video
A studio where one person turns an idea into a finished, scheduled short video, with Claude doing the editing.
Before: Every short video meant hours of editing, and posting depended on who had time.
Built: A video studio for short-form content. We go from idea to finished video: Claude edits the whole video in our own pipeline and style, and we schedule when it goes live.
Now: A video goes from idea to scheduled post in one flow, without a separate editor.
One dashboard for every lead
One dashboard on top of Odoo and the website, so every lead gets an answer, also when the season is over.
Before: A CRM with little structure that was hard to keep up, and leads from the site and from earlier contacts spread over different places.
Built: A link between Odoo and the website. All leads, contacts and the full CRM in one dashboard: where leads come from, who hasn’t had an answer, suggested messages and mails per lead, and a reminder when one is forgotten.
Now: No lead slips through. Next up: bridging the season, because farmers start thinking about their fields in summer, not in winter. The system is nearly complete and the first tests run in summer 2027.
No dev background. Just a lot of building.
I have no background in development, so I never just type “build me something”. I start with a plan and a structure, use what I know about the business, and let AI build it step by step while I check every step. On top of that I always run review agents that check for specific things. Every project teaches me something, mostly through my own mistakes. Building something is no longer the hard part. Building it structured, solid and secure is, and that is what I am teaching myself right now.
Off the clock
Outside of work you’ll find me running or on my road bike. It clears my head, and yes, I measure that too.
